Dental and Partials
When you come to Baus Family Dentistry, we will work with you every step of the way to make sure you get the smile makeover you are looking for. Dentures can never truly replace the teeth that have been lost over time, but with added attention to details we can provide stability, chewing efficiency, and comfort for you. We pay close attention to match your teeth to your face in size and shape, to give you your best natural smile.
Your denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and some of the surrounding tissue. There are two types of dentures - complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.
Complete dentures, in many instances, can be used in conjunction with implants that we place in our office. While today's dentures are better with new technology, they still can slip or drop. In this case, dental implants can provide anchorage into the jawbone like natural teeth, preventing slippage from occurring. Including the dental implants in your treatment with your dentures will increase your comfort and ease of chewing and speaking. We believe they offer an increase in the quality of living and we do it right in our office!
During the process of getting dentures, there are a few appointments over about a month's time. We make highly accurate impressions and measurements to create a custom denture. There are a few "try-in" appointments to ensure the proper shape, color, and fit. At the final appointment we seat your final denture and adjust it to your natural fit.
During the course of that month or so, we will help you learn about the expectations of becoming a denture wearer. Proper cleaning of your new denture, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new denture.
