Restorations

On the forefront of restorative dentistry for over 30 years.

At Baus Family Dentistry, we consistently bring state-of-the-art dental procedures to our patients in order to restore broken down, decayed, missing, or failing teeth back to a beautiful, healthy state. Even people with good oral hygiene can lose teeth to accident or injury.

With tooth-colored fillings, crowns, and bridges, our office can give you back a strong, attractive smile. Advanced technology and high quality materials enable us to create restorations that blend with your natural teeth. We have training and expertise to manage any case, from cavities to complex full mouth reconstructions.

Tooth-Colored Filling Restorations

Composite resin fillings are mechanically and chemically bonded to the tooth. This creates a tight fit and restores the tooth to nearly its original strength. We can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. This means only you and the dentist know you have fillings! Medium and small composite fillings can last seven to ten years, the same as an amalgam/silver filling. Composite fillings also allow the dentist to conserve more tooth structure than traditional amalgam restorations.

Crowns (Caps)

We create permanent, natural looking crowns for you that are made of the highest quality materials from the best labs in the country. Crowns are a type of restoration that fully covers the portion of the tooth that lies at and above the gum line. A crown may be used to protect an underlying tooth that has a very large, broken down filling, or too large of a cavity. A crown also supports fractured teeth, protects a brittle tooth after a root canal, and can even be used to cover a discolored tooth.

During a crown appointment, Dr. Mariah or Dr. Lara will perfectly prepare the tooth for a crown for maximum retention. Then a mold/impression is made and sent to the laboratory. We then place a plastic or aluminum temporary crown on the prepared tooth to protect it until your crown is fabricated. Then at the insertion appointment, after the crown is made, we carefully remove your temporary and permanently cement your final crown into place. You can then brush and floss this tooth as if it was your natural tooth.

Fixed Bridge

A bridge is a restoration that fills the space where a tooth has been removed. Gaps between teeth can cause chewing problems. If even one tooth is missing, other teeth may slowly shift out of place. This can change how your teeth fit together. Your teeth may become harder to clean which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. It is important to fill gaps between teeth and a cemented bridge is one way to do so. A bridge is not the only way to replace missing/lost teeth. Implants and partial dentures are other solutions. The decision is always yours; always ask questions on what will work best for you!
